Be Still and Have Faith

I have had several instances where I have had to have faith that I could share in this post but every time that I sat down to start writing one of them, I did not know where to start. I firmly believe the reason for that is because God wanted me to share what has happened to me in the last two days. It may not seem to incredibly big to some people but to me it was huge.

I received a subpoena at work a week ago for a suspect who shoplifted from my store. The suspect is a very aggressive suspect that harassed me every time he saw me. As soon as I received the piece of paper with the date and time on it I thought I was going to throw up. Fear instantly took over in my thoughts. I was panicking for a while about having to see him again but I took minute to pray about it and hand it over to God, trusting Him with the outcome.

A verse came to me then and has stuck with me all week, especially today in court. Psalms 46:10 states, “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth’” (NIV).

Through the thoughts of panic and fear that I was feeling God was telling me to be still and know that He is God. He is the God over all. He will bring justice where justice should be and He will never leave me alone. My week could have gone a lot worse if I had kept thinking about this case and all the what if’s that may or may not have happened. Instead it was just a normal week. I had God’s peace.

With that being said the Devil still tries to tear us down at times, especially when he sees us trusting God. Today was the date of the case and there were a few times before I left for court where I thought I was going to go into a panic attack but God is so good. I had several people praying and God sent a friend that walked into court with me so I would not physically be alone. In addition to all this, while I was driving in today, a song began playing on my Christian playlist that brought be so much comfort. It’s called Be Still by Hillsong and the lyrics say this;

“Be still and know

That the Lord is in control

Be still my soul

Stand and watch as giants fall

I won’t be afraid

You are here

You silence all my fear

I won’t be afraid

You don’t let go

Be still my heart and know

I won’t be afraid

Be still and trust

What the Lord has said is done

Find rest don’t strive

Watch as faith and grace align

Surely love and mercy

Your peace and kindness

Will follow me

Will follow me

Your love surrounds me

Your love surrounds me here”

How amazing is our God?! I went into that court room today, still a little nervous, but with faith. Faith in knowing that God was there and that He was going to get me through it and He did. The outcome of court went as perfect as it could go and I did not get confronted by the suspect as I had feared when I first got the subpoena. All praise be to God. I do not know how I would have gotten through it without Him. I do not know how anyone can get through anything without knowing God is with them and having faith in that.

A quote that I saw on a Facebook post by Lucas Jonkman stated this, “Fight you fears and you’ll be in the battle forever. Face your fears and you will be free forever”.

I do not know where you are today in your faith. I do not know what fears are creeping into your mind but stop fighting them face them. God will never leave your side if you just have faith and believe he is there. He has always been there and He will always be there. Have faith in Him to see you through whatever it is you are facing.

I am going to end this with one of my favorite verses, Joshua 1:9, which states, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous; Do not be afraid; Do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go” (NIV).

If any of you need prayer for something or just need/want to talk to someone don’t hesitate to reach out to any one of us. We love you all and pray for you everyday!
