Let Go and Have Faith

We are told to live by it – give it all to God and have faith.  This is much easier said than done, am I right? Many of you are wives and mothers who have a good hand on practically what it looks like to live by faith.  Trusting the Lord with your finances and how your kids will grow up is just a glimpse. Some of you are college students who may have just started or are graduating in a few weeks and have NO idea what is next.

Have you ever noticed how many times, in the Bible, when people were at their lowest point, God showed up because of their faith? We also learn from those stories that even for some of the greatest, letting go was one are the hardest things to do.

In John 16:33 Jesus says, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

I really love this verse! Not only does God out right say, “I got this,” but He says that He’s had it since before you even knew who He was. Letting go can be one of the hardest things we have ever have to do. I get it. When I am having one of my “worry fits”, my husband always has to stop me and say, “Baby, we are going to be fine! Who did we say was in control of this situation?” Although admitting he is right can also be hard, he is.

Ask for help. Ask for prayer. We never want to let others know we are hurting, and this is something I struggle with too. I do not want anyone to worry about me or bother anyone with my problems.  Thankfully, God knows better. He puts people of prayer in your life who sit at the feet of God constantly for people like you and me who are nervous to ask for prayer.

If you are with me, let’s let it go and let God handle it, because He wants to and He can.  In fact He would love too, because it means we have FAITH in Him that He actually can move that mountain and a love deeper than we can fathom.

My husband (Luke) and I were at the beach last week. He surprised me with a quick getaway for the night because I had been asking and asking for him to take me (yes he totally spoiled me). As I sat up at 6am to watch the sunrise over the water I could not help but think about how beautiful it was. Not just the water and the colors but life itself!

How awesome is it that we get to wake up each morning to a God who wants to handle our problems, a God who wants to hear our concerns? With all that we know about God, why is it so hard for us to let go? No I do not have a simple answer for this question because I think there are quite a few million of them.  Regardless of your answer, we all have them and they cause us unnecessary stress and frustration.

With all of this said, take this challenge with me because I have to remind myself of it constantly.  When you find yourself getting anxious, take a deep breath and say to God, “I do not want to worry about this today, I know you can handle it so take it from me now!”

The girls and I think about you all and pray for you always! I know its said at the end of many blogs but please do not hesitate to reach out to us with thoughts and prayer requests, we would love to talk to you and pray for you!

Much love, Olivia
